Excerpts from my Comparative Genocide class syllabus...
Ok so I have this hardcore class from the comparative politics department this semester... From what I've heard, it is the hardest class in the social sciences at FIU, not just because of the content alone, but because of the academic expectancy the professor has... He's a hardcore highly-esteemed professor, not a joke... I'm actually quite honored to make it into his class...
So, here's the very first paragraph of the syllabus:
Overview
This class is an exploration of the very heart of human evil: genocide. For many students this class also proves to be the most disturbing intellectual experience of their university careers. Fair warning.
Yeah, kind of makes you wonder if you really should take his class when he starts off the syllabus like that... *chuckles*
On a lighter note, I found this class rule very amusing:
1. Class starts on time. Late arriving students will be shot (sorry, just checking to see if you’re reading the syllabus).
haha...cute..... *freaks out*
Anyway I'm really looking forward to this course.. I've been waiting to sign up for it for years now... It's going to kick my butt and I'm terrified, yes, but if I can do this, then I can do anything academic-wise (except maybe anything math-related hehe but I refuse to accept math as academia).... And if I get an A in this course, I am going for my Ph. D or my international law degree.....
Werd...
Oh, and I can't post the rest of the syllabus because we kind of swore the class to secrecy and we also cannot discuss class material outside of the classroom or outside of the circle of studends taking the class.... Yes, it's that hardcore... hmmm I like it though, almost like being part of a secret society....ooooh....
And no, I'm not giving away our reading material list either... =P
Wish me luck...
